    About The Pinapple Hotel

    Overview of The Pineapple Hotel
The Pineapple Hotel, established in 1864, is recognized as the fifth oldest pub in Queensland. Its name is derived from the pineapple plantations that were prevalent in the Kangaroo Point area during the mid-1900s 1 2. This historic establishment not only boasts a rich history but also remains a beloved venue in the region.

    Historical Significance
The hotel has undergone various ownership changes and renovations over the years while maintaining its unique character. One notable owner was Pat Palmer, who, after a fortunate gold strike, famously rode his bicycle from Charters Towers to purchase the hotel in 1923, renaming it Palmers Hotel. However, in the early 1950s, grazier Sid Guthrie restored its original name, The Pineapple Hotel.

    Recent Developments
In 1989, the hotel was acquired by Bob and Heather Singleton, who have been dedicated to restoring its charm. They have incorporated features like Tasmanian oak wall panels, brass fittings, and leadlight windows. The hotel has also adapted to modern needs, removing the drive-thru bottle shop in 2006 and introducing a premium wine store, new bar and dining areas, and a glass-house beer garden with air conditioning and a children's playground.

    Family Legacy
The Pineapple Hotel remains one of the few family-owned pubs in Queensland, with the Singleton family hoping to keep it in their family for generations to come. The hotel operates daily from 10 AM to 2 AM, welcoming guests to enjoy its historical ambiance and modern amenities.
